Teacher leaders from around the world
are invited to participate in an additional seminar and discussion in Berlin on 2 March 2016, one day prior to the 6th International Summit on the Teaching Profession (ISTP).

The overarching goal is to create a forum where active classroom teachers gather and collaborate to discuss the themes and focal points of 2016 ISTP and to connect this dialogue to other international teacher-led platforms. Further, the seminar seeks to create an opportunity enabling policymakers and educational leaders to communicate directly with teachers recognized for their innovative practice, leadership, and collaboration.

Conversations and ideas emerging
from the seminar will be discussed at the summit with educational leaders during a breakout session, aiming to strengthen the profession by providing real world examples of how educational policy perspectives impact classrooms. The programme and activities seek to inform dialogue that elevates the profession, recognizes the value of all partners within education systems, and to increase opportunities for student growth.

Teachers bring home valuable insights
to their schools after participating and collaborating on a global stage. By sharing the outcomes in their respective education systems they have the ability to deepen the impact of the summit. By starting a continuous dialogue with other teacher leaders, the pre-summit seminar contributes in promoting meaningful change in schools around the world.

Teacher Leadership
was the primary focus at 2015 ISTP. Policymakers and educational leaders met for two days in March of 2015, to discuss the topics and collaborate to develop strategies to advance the profession and student-centred practice by empowering teacher-leadership. The pre-summit seminar in Berlin is a progressive byproduct of those conversations, meaning to enrich the overall conversation at 2016 ISTP and to contribute to the construction of a global platform for teacher leaders.
